On the Ghosts & Gravestones tour you will pass by some of the scariest and most sacred sites including the Huguenot Cemetery, the final resting place of the victims of yellow fever…or was it final? Some visitors to the burial grounds have reported seeing eerie apparitions and translucent orbs floating about.
If you keep a watchful eye while passing the City Gates, you might catch a glimpse of Elizabeth, a child victim of the yellow fever, waving to passerbys.
You will also pass the Tolomoto Cemetery. Who’s playing games in the cemetery when the sun goes down? Is it the spirit of five-year-old James jumping from branch to branch in the trees or is it the Ghost Bride, still waiting for her walk down the aisle?
Hear about the Old Drug Store and Enter Potter's Wax Museum
Built on the edge of the Tolomato Cemetery sits one of St. Augustine’s most recognizable buildings, the Old Drug Store. Unexplained noises, cold spots and shadows reportedly moving on their own make up only a few of the hundreds of documented supernatural occurrences. Learn the secrets to these hauntings that have plagued the Old Drug Store from the time it first opened in 1887. Afterwards get an exclusive nighttime experience inside Potter’s Wax Museum’s Chamber of Horrors for a unique retelling of the famed pirate Andrew Ranson’s gruesome execution.
Visit the Old Jail, one of the city's most haunted places
You will end your journey with a visit to the Old Jail, one of the city’s most haunted locations. Listed on the Florida and National registry of Haunted Places, the Old Jail has been site of countless supernatural occurrences. Many criminals have met their maker here. A shiv in the back or a hangman’s noose ended numerous lives. Be on the lookout for former prisoner Charlie Powell, as he is just as mischievous dead as he was alive. Visitors to the Old Jail have experienced cold spots, strange odors, loud banging noises, orbs of light and even apparitions.
