Lulu Fortuna
Lulu Fortuna arrived in Key West on the Flagler railroad as part of a traveling circus. Penny-less and broke, she was left behind. Lulu made a name and a living for herself by holding nightly séances and reading tarot cards at ladies' luncheons. One hot summer evening while taking her nightly stroll, she was struck by lightning. Guess she didn’t see THAT coming.

Lila James
As a child, Lila sat by her grandfather’s side and eagerly absorbed his nautical adventures. She learned of a sunken Spanish treasure, said to be cursed, off the Coast of the Bahamas. Silver mined from South America, with a life force so strong, it refuses to make its way to its final destination. She too lost her life searching for this treasure in 1836. But that’s not going stop her. Some of it made its way to Key West, and she’s taking you with her to find it!

John Paul Garrett “The Butcher”
He dodged so many disasters in his lifetime, he did think twice about dodging that steer that got loose on July 26, 1904. Before he knew it, he had 2,700 pounds of muscle charging straight for him. Within inches, John Paul was able to duck out of the way of the bull but got hit by a bullet instead.

“Crazy” Deloris
Lived a life full of tragedy. Wife to four husbands - all lost to drowning, disease, and death by misadventure over the course of several decades. Alone, broken-hearted and overwhelmed with grief, she slowly lost her grip on reality... eventually taking her own life. On moonlit nights, “Crazy” Deloris drifts around Key West in her nightgown looking for her lost love ones.

Mahulda
Died a violent and colorful death mid-August 1854. Was spending an afternoon making flower arrangements for local funerals, assembling large wreaths, wrapping steams with wires and dusting flowers with green, arsenic-laced powder. That is until she started vomiting green bile and convulsing. She stumbled out onto Duval St. A crowded gathered, only to find her dead and foaming green at the mouth.

Kathryn Sawyer
A witness to hurricanes, shipwrecks and the Yellow Fever epidemic, she assisted in burials that took place throughout the island. One night, Kathryn was chasing a grave robber out of the cemetery but lost her footing and fell in one of her own graves she had dug. She died without pain at the age of 25.
